The inspiration for this very unusual and creative party came from Lucy, the daughter and hinged on her love of childhood stories, literature and art. The idea was to incorporate 5 distinct themes and mix them seamlessly to make a cohesive party. The themes were Alice in Wonderland, Harry Potter, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Peter Pan and the Wizard of Oz.
A Hollywood style illuminated LUCYLAND sign set the scene. A real feast for the eyes followed with a pathway of giant red tulips, red and white toadstools and an archway of giant snowdrops leading guests into the stretch tent.
Inside the marquee, each seating area was distinctly themed – long wooden tables with cauldrons spilling over with dry ice for Harry Potter, oversized playing cards dancing overhead for Alice in Wonderland, pirate ship masts and treasure chest centre pieces for Peter Pan and arched birch trees with vintage bird cages with soft pea lights depicting A Mid-Summer Nights Dream.
A real focal point was a yellow brick road leading guests into the nightclub and the Emerald City from the Wizard of Oz. Once inside the nightclub the full effect of Lucyland took hold with a bank of fairground mirrors distorting guests into crazy shapes. Guests enjoyed delicious home-made pies served with bowls of seasonal vegetables and a selection of gorgeous mini puds to complete the meal. Party goers were still enjoying the effects of living in Lucyland until 4.00am!
“Where do I start – wow, wow + wow! Yet another Apollo masterpiece! Thank you all so very, very much – from start to finish creating “Lucyland” was so much fun – everything taken in your stride and the impossible made possible!
