For this very special client we wanted to create a 21st birthday party that would be memorable for years to come. The theme for this party was a mix of Cuba and the Play Boy Mansion. The concept was for the main tent to emulate the vibrancy, brilliant colours and wonderful architecture of Cuba, with the nightclub taking on the more luxurious look of Hugh Heffner’s Play Boy Mansion.
Referencing the crumbling streets of Havana with mural street paintings, rows of palm trees and rustic colourful charm. In the garden we created a tree-lined pathway with impressive giant palms and colourful, aged, oil barrels painted in fiery Cuban colours. Two 1950’s style American convertible cars were placed outside the entrance of the marquee giving guests a wonderful photo opportunity.
Inside the marquee was a riot of colour. A long bar was bespoke made using a mixture of aged wood and corrugated metal panels. Customised with vintage Cuban cigar poster prints and the stand out feature was the backdrop to this bar – a central feature piece consisting of ‘CUBA’ cut-out of thin sheet metal, painted red and surround with mini festoon lights. Entertainment was provided by some stunning Cuban style dancers who wowed the guests with fire eating and made sure all the guests really got into the carnival spirit.
